I decided to compile the best of the 14th July Sydney performances on one disc, as they were of the highest quality - even greater clarity than the FM 1990 performances I torrented before. I tried to generally avoid duplication with the FM 1990 sets I torrented elsewhere, as they are high quality documents that stand up on their own, and there were high quality performances I'd have to leave out if I deferred to the FM versions of the tracks. I am aware that US 80's 90's appears twice : I felt this was no bad thing given the quality of the performances available and that the second version would be on a seperate disc compiling for the most part high quality audience recordings. The aim was to capture each song performed on the tour that I'm aware of. Chicago Now seemed pretty unique - I did try re-recording that from the tape with the tuning screw adjusted a little off tune... the recording had revealed the recording fading in and out due to poor copying at some stage. However in the end I simply turned down the treble a little on my original recording to disc as the second (screw down tuned) version was too poor to be worth using. The running order of the second disc was assembled to as closely match as possible the song's place in the set of its respective performance. The first disc simply maintained the running order, albeit with tracks removed where I used slightly better performances and put them on disc 2. In making selections, tracks were jettisoned due to tape damage (either on my own tapes or on downloaded versions) and mistakes in songs. However there were exceptions : this is The Fall, and some charming or powerful performances have the odd mistake but are still a superior listening experience to a 'flawless' performance which hasn't necessarily transferred to tape so well. I did not compile from the Reading Festival tape, nor the high quality Norwich recording from October : the line-up had changed by that point, and each of these two latter gigs represents a slightly different Fall than the one represented in these concerts compiled from March to July 1990. Enjoy. TECHNICAL NOTES : CD 1 sourced from Dime download as indicated. CD 2 sourced from my own tapes bar the into Bochum intro (the other Bochum tracks were from my tape).
