I’m not sure the recording really picks it up, but the Paris show had a bit more energy than the previous night in Lille. Strychnine sets the crowd alight with attractive young lady throwing herself off the stage and body surfing around, completely ignored by MES. Vox seem a little distorted, but this is the venue sound system not the recording. Maybe MES has used the mics before? Crowd chatter here and there but not intrusive. Reformation ends in a mess due to a member of the road crew passing on MES’s orders that they should also join his back stage. There’s a lot of MES ‘live mixing’ going on throughout the gig, possibly more than I’ve see for a while. Pete gets most attention bless him, but doesn’t flinch at all as his meticulous amp setting from the sound check get ruined within 30 seconds of the opener. Kieron gets his usual ‘talking too’, and comes back on stage hitting the drums slightly differently than he did before?
Another fine evening of fall entertainment, but I’m thinking a few new tracks might freshen things up live from now on. Maybe that new single should get a spin live? Duped is great, but, well, you know.
