THE FALL - live at the Knitting Factory, Los Angeles, May 23rd, 2006 This particular recent gig was only two weeks after the entire Fall backing band (minus MES’s wife, of course) walked out on MES in the middle of the tour, leaving him high ‘n dry in the southwestern U.S.! Luckily, he (or his management, more likely) recruited three L.A. musicians, who stayed with him not only through the end of the tour, but for more following dates in Europe (for a better explanation of this whole story, go here). I was present at the first of the two L.A. tour dates at the KF in May ‘06, and even though the backing band had only been with him for a few days at that point, the show was light years beyond the previous time I’d seen them in 2002 (dunno how that works exactly, but that’s The Fall, eh?) I wanted to go to this May 23rd show as well, but other things kept me from getting in the venue doors until only a few minutes before the whole show ended. Here’s the first two-thirds of the May 23rd show; the download cut off before I was able to grab the rest of it… Track listing: 1) Tape (new instrumental) 2) intro 3) Formation FD 4) Bo Demmick 5) Pacifying Joint 6) Theme from Sparta FC 7) Wrong Place, Right Time 8) Systematic Abuse
